The star of the show here is undoubtedly the food, particularly the famous burgers that have garnered a loyal following. Local drive with cool casual vibe. Food was good, but sitting at the bar and talking with the regulars and one of the waiters behind the bar was the best part. I could barely eat half the food but didnt want to leave just because everyone was so nice.

My son is a fan of The Thurman Cafe. He is home from AZ so he wanted to grab lunch and requested we go here as it holds great memories to him as it was the first burger he ever had. We had come in immediately after being discharged from Childrens Hospital. We had life threatening food allergies and on that day was finally able to eat food that everyone here on yelp takes for granted as we eat it every day. He had never eaten a burger with fries at 10 yrs old ever before that moment. I know-Crazy (but true. He ate literally seven things before that day) and on that day was able to safely go to a restaurant AND order from a menu. It was huge life changing moment. He wanted to go here as he saw it on Man vs Food. So that is where we immediately went. That little ten year old ate the entire Thurman-ator burger. It was crazy. The burger was bigger than his head. The staff was so sweet to him. I remember that day and staff fondly. So flash forward thirteen years later and my 6'2" 235 pound, super healthy rugby player son is sitting in that same booth ordering the a similar burger served to him by the same server. It was pretty special. Ten years ago they made a huge fuss over him at ten, made him feel so special that day so long ago that left a lasting impression on him. One of kindness. Today we didnt tell them it was us but I bet they remember that day too. We will always return to the staffs humanity and kindness. Food here is tasty. Wouldnt call it healthy (its not) but if you look hard enough they have a few healthy options. I chose a Macedonian salad with grilled chicken. Im sure you can ask for the chicken marinade to be washed off or be omitted but it really adds a nice flavor and isn't that unhealthy. So I advise leaving it on. The bar is really just a good old bar staffed by people who have worked there for a long time. How many places can retain their staff for a decade? They do here. That is special, too! Sure, its a bit divey but I wouldn't want it any other way. Its just perfect here. Has writing on its walls and wooden booths. Fun! Staff is excellent. Its a good time and oh, the hand cut fries.... Outstanding! Try Thurmans Cafe. We will always return. @thethurmancafe

Every time we drove by there were people waiting outside. Once we showed up and expected the 45 minute wait, we found out why there are always people waiting! Fried Pickle Chips / Cheese Curds were great. Burgers lived up to the hype of the positive yelp reviews! Service was incredibly friendly and attentive. Old school dive bar vibes.

This place is phenomenal! We took a 2 hour motorcycle trip for lunch and we were NOT disappointed. 6 people, 6 different meals and EVERYONE was happy. Don't hesitate to give this place a shot, not only was the food great but so was the service only problem you'll have is figuring out how to fit these giant burgers in your mouth! 10/10 recommend.

I am confident that, aside from offering the best burger in town, the service and attention you receive as a customer is truly one of a kind. This time around, I was defeated--I couldn't finish my burger, especially after being so full from the pizza rolls that I fell in love with this time. The ambience and the music selection were appealing. I want to send my regards to the people behind the grill who make these creations day in and day out.

I was in town for a music festival & a friend recommended I stop here. I rushed over & made it just in time before closing. The place is small, with a few tables & bar seating so you must wait to be seated but luckily the bar had one seat available. Wasn't gonna do it but had to go with the Thurmanator cuz not sure if I'll ever come back to Columbus. The burger was good but not great. The patties were super thick & well seasoned but cooked well done, I don't think they give you a choice on temp. I could've done without the ham, it was a bit overwhelming & unnecessary. Read reviews & noticed many people recommend the onion rings so I had to try. Glad I did, they were so good I must say they were probably the best onion rings I've ever had! Service was quick cuz I was one of only a few patrons left, attentive & friendly. Prices were reasonable, definitely recommend for first timers!

My favorite dive bar. The burgers are excellent. I recommend the Thurman burger. I did finish off a Thurmanator once but that was just too much burger. They do have hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and more but there is no way I go to Thurman and not get a burger. Service has usually been pretty good. The biggest complaint I have is that there is limited seating and I have been there a few times with a long wait.
